10 Things Women Need to Stop Apologizing For

Women are notorious for being people pleasers. We want everyone to be happy and to like us. We will bend over backward to make sure things are perfect.

But someone needs to tell women we don’t have to live like that and we should spend more time making ourselves happy. We also excessively apologize for everything. Here are 10 things all women need to stop apologizing for right now.

Your House Being Messy

This is your house. Your personal and private space. Your sanctuary. Do not ever apologize for the way it looks or the shape it’s in. If we don’t like it, we can leave.

For Being Too Sensitive or Emotional

That’s who you are! Jen Sincero said it best. “Never apologize for who you are. It lets the whole world down.” Just be yourself all the time and never apologize for that. The right people will gravitate, and the wrong ones will fall to the wayside.

For Being Loud or Hyper/Extroverted

Don’t ever dim your shine because it’s blinding someone else. If you’re loud, hyper, full of life, colourful, animated, and extroverted, you just keep on being you. The world needs more of that.

For Your Partner’s Rude Behaviour

I get that women want to do this and that they feel so bad afterward, but please stop doing that. Apologizing for someone else. They’re grown-ups and adults and should be held responsible for their behavior, not you.

The Way You Look

For your hair, or makeup, or the clothes you’re wearing or that you’re not all dolled up or whatever. Maybe you’re running around in sweats with your hair piled on top of your head. It doesn’t matter. None of that matters to anyone, and don’t apologize for it.

For Setting Boundaries

A lot of people can’t handle that. Boundaries. And on the flip side of that, a lot of people don’t know how to set them. When you respect yourself enough, you’ll figure it out. Set boundaries, don’t let anyone cross them and don’t apologize for them.

For Saying No

“Awe, I’m sorry, but I can’t.” Sound familiar? We’ve all done that. Said no, and apologized immediately afterward. We feel guilty. But no is a complete sentence. You don’t have to follow it up with anything. Ever.

For Your Use of Foul Language

So you swear. A lot. Yes, it offends many people, but it also doesn’t offend many people. If that’s who you are, just keep on being you. They say that swearing is unladylike, rude, and obnoxious, but so is judging and gossiping. So there’s that.

Your Faith or Religion

Girl, you believe in whoever or whatever you want. You can believe in Santa Claus or The Great Pumpkin if you want, and it’s no one’s business but your own. Never apologize for your faith or religious beliefs.

Using Your Voice or Speaking Out

Never be afraid to use your voice, and when you do, don’t ever apologize for doing so. We have been taught by an old society to obey and not speak out. That’s old, outdated thinking. Find and use your voice, girl. The world needs more of that too.
