Do you find that you are constantly struggling with headaches? This can be a major problem in your life. It can stop you from being able to focus enough at work and may cause you to be short or cranky with loved ones. Today I want to share 7 ways to cure headaches naturally so you can get on with your life.

If you are experiencing headaches regularly, there may be some underlying causes or issues that need to be addressed.

For example, I’m a migraine sufferer, BUT I also know what my triggers are: white chocolate, red wine, etc., so I stay away from those as best I can. Also, for me, sleeping on my tummy with my head and neck cranked can cause a migraine.

But some of us simply don’t know what causes our headaches. I’m going to share some ways on how to beat headaches, some reasons why you may be getting them, and some things to do about those.

There Are Ways to Cure Headaches Naturally

First, you should make sure that you speak to your doctor. Headaches can be a sign of something serious, particularly if this problem has developed suddenly.

Let’s face it, headaches are no fun and can ruin a good day, evening plans, dinner party plans, etc. You get the idea.

It’s really a good idea to talk to your doctor to rule out anything serious. He/she may simply suggest dietary changes, which brings us to the first of the 7 ways to cure headaches.

The Mayo Clinic has a great article also on the causes of headaches. You can check that out here.

7 Ways to Cure Headaches

Now before we start, it’s important to understand that these ways to cure headaches, while they do work, they are only temporary solutions. You still need to address the underlying cause of the headache. I can’t stress that enough.

1 Diet And Drinking

The first thing you should think about is your diet and how much you are drinking, and what you are drinking. If you are having constant headaches, it might be a case that you need to drink more water.

This can be as simple as a sign that your body is dehydrated. If that’s the case, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to get the extra water that your body needs. Don’t forget that you should aim to drink about a liter of water per day.

Also, check your diet. Foods can wreak havoc on our bodies and yes, sadly, cause headaches. Do a process of elimination to see which ones are the headache culprits!

Or maybe your diet is lacking a necessary supplement that prevents headaches? Ask your doctor about that, or you can Google some info on that too.

Remember, we are what we eat. So if you are feeding your body junk food and unhealthy food, well, guess what? Your body’s natural way of rejecting this is the pain signals and discomfort it is going through.

Think of your car. We give it gas, we take it in for regular maintenance, we change parts that need to be changed. Most of us take better care of our cars than our bodies! Your body has to last longer than your car.

Feed it and treat it right.

2 Teeth Trouble

Believe it or not, problems with your teeth can also cause you to experience more headaches than usual they might even be quite severe. If you are worried about this, then you should think about speaking to a dentist.

It’s possible that you may have a cavity or bad dental roots.

Also, poor oral hygiene can result in a slew of other physical health problems. Get to the dentist, check your teeth!

3 Not enough sleep

It’s possible that you are getting headaches because your body is exhausted. This will be the case if you are not getting enough sleep through the night or if you’re not getting the high quality of sleep your body requires.

There are various things that can prevent this from happening. For instance, it’s possible that tech around your home is causing you issues here. To prevent this, you should make sure all the tech in your bedroom is switched off before your head hits the hay.

Salt lamps are also a great way of reducing electrical frequencies.

4 Reduce stress

It’s no secret that stress is one of the main causes of headaches. It’s easy for me to say, “Hey, just reduce the stress in your life,” but we all know it’s not that easy.

Maybe have a closer look at your life and see where you can eliminate things (or people) that do cause you stress. Do you need them, really?

Is your job causing you stress? Can you work less or maybe even completely change your career or your life?

5 Essential oils

Did you know that essential oils have amazing healing properties from relaxing stiff muscles, clearing your sinuses, and, yes, even a great way to cure headaches?

I love Rosemary oil for when I have a migraine, and Lavender oil is always close by too. Check out these oils and see which ones you should have on your shelf.

6 Book a massage

If you can afford to do that, please do. Massages aren’t just great for relaxing; they also help reduce tension in your neck, back, spine, and so much more. Stiffness in your body can also cause headaches.

If you can’t afford bi-weekly massages, then check out an at-home massage device/chair pad that can help you.

Or why not ask your partner/friend to give you a little massage? I’m sure they will if you tell them you have a headache!

7 Ice packs

I used to keep ice packs in my freezer all the time for when I had migraines. They felt like magic and helped alleviate the pain from my migraines.

If you’re having muscle issues, a heat pack may be in order. Either way, hot or cold, these packs will be your saving grace and help prevent your headache from getting worse.

If you don’t have an ice pack you can easily make one with a ziplock baggie and frozen peas, blueberries or ice cubes. Wrap a towel or facecloth around it and apply it to the pain. Such relief!

How to Relieve Headaches Naturally

Essential oils, ice packs, and massages are probably 3 of my favorite ways to cure headaches naturally at home. If you’re like me, you don’t like taking pills to cure the pain of any kind, so try these at-home natural methods to cure your headaches before you reach the aspirin bottle.

But as I mentioned earlier, it’s really important to get to the underlying cause of your headaches. I’m a firm believer in natural therapy and that what we do and put in our bodies will come out physically, and it’s usually pain.

Best Painkillers for Headaches

And when all else fails, it’s ok to reach for a pain pill. If you have a migraine, anything with sumatriptan works for me. Ask your doctor about those.

Otherwise, grab yourself some good ole extra-strength Tylenol or Advil for pain.
